I GUESSED I WOULD NEED MORE MEMORY FOR THE TRIP

HAWAIIMEMORY

The most exciting trip of my life would be just a month away from now and guessed where it would be this time? It’s going to be a week of fun and relaxing vacation in Hawaii, away from my hectic work schedules. With beautiful sunsets, golden beaches and warm friendly locals, I would surely not miss out the opportunity to take as many photographs as I can for my personal scrapbook project.

With so many potential fun activities around the state of Hawaii with over hundreds of surrounding islands to hop around, I could easily shoot up thousands of beautiful sceneries and landscapes from water activities such as surfing, scuba diving to inland activities such as hiking trip to the volcanoes and visiting pineapple plantations.

Moreover, there are a few must visit islands from the northwest to southeast of the Hawaiian Island chain such as Kauai, Oahu, Maui and many more. Being a water sports enthusiast, I will definitely spend more time in Kauai, the fourth largest island in Hawaii. It is a snorkeling paradise. The clear and unpolluted water surrounding the islands is filled with abundance tropical fishes and reefs, a great place to witness the aquatic bounty of Hawaii indeed.

The only two things I have to worry about now would be the batteries for my camera and the quantity of photographs that I could store in my sd card. With the chances of being out of the hotel most of the time, I guessed I would have to purchase more backup accessories for my digital camera. It’s going to be a trip to remember forever and photographs sure will bring back many fond memories.

I'm thirsty for a drink now. Would you be kind enough to treat me?

WHY MUST THIS HAPPEN DURING VACATION?

I love vacations, especially a visit to those beautiful country sites where I can just laze around on the green grass and watch the lambs running about. Sounds familiar? You got it right. I love New Zealand – the Land of the Kiwis. One day, I wished I could stay in New Zealand for a longer period of time rather than just a few days of vacation. There are lots of wools to keep me warm, lots of meat available for my lamb chop crave, lots of fresh fruits for my breakfast and not forgetting their endless flow of melamine free fresh diary products for my consumption. Well, that was just my dream for the moment. What I can do now is to make frequent visits there for a stress free vacation.

New Zealand consists of the northern and the southern islands. Auckland on the north island remains the metropolitan area of the country with more than one million residents. It is the largest and most populous urban area in the country with a warm temperate climate that would suit most sun lovers. Auckland is popularly known as the “City of Sails” with around 135,000 yachts harbored along the coastline. The most in the whole world I guessed. Some of the main attractions in Auckland include the Auckland Town Hall, Aotea Centre, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Auckland Art Gallery, Auckland War Memorial Museum, the National Maritime Museum, Auckland Zoo, Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater World, Auckland Domain, Albert Park, Myers Park, Western Park and Victoria Park.

One of my most frequent cities on the south island is Christchurch, the second largest urban city in New Zealand and has a temperate climate. The city was also named The Garden City as it has a large number of public parks and well-developed residential gardens. Hagley Park, Christchurch Botanic Gardens, Mona Vale, Riccarton House and Bush are the few most notable ones. Sightseeing in Christchurch can be real tiring as there are just too many beautiful sights all over the city, the Canterbury Museum, Ferrymead Heritage Park, Orana Wildlife Park, Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, Air Force Museum, Southern Encounter Aquarium and Kiwi House, International Antarctic Centre, Christ Church Anglican Cathedral, the Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Christchurch Art Gallery, Christchurch Arts Centre, and many more.

Visiting Christchurch brought back many sweet and bitter memories. The worst being my luggage lock malfunctioned and I had to force open it. My advice to those travelers, you can go on budget traveling but do not get cheap luggage like I did. Get one that of quality such as my Samsonite luggage which I had used for years. I never need to fear for more hiccups during my vacation again.

HERE I COME MEDITERRANEAN!

There are twenty one countries along the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea such as Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. Which one should I visit to have an enjoyable and mind relaxing holiday?

I have checked with all the Mediterranean cruises that are available online and found Turkey to be quite interesting since the country sits mainly in Asia and partially in Europe. The Eastern Mediterranean cruises which focused on Italy, Greece, Turkey and cities along the Adriatic should be fun as I would also have ample time to visit those historical landmarks of Rome, Venice and Athens.

As a frequent seafarer, I would love to visit those beautiful ports and beaches that are available in the countries. I have heard so much and hope that I have the opportunity to visit Antalya, a city at the southwestern part of Turkey. The city on a cliff oversees the horizon of the Mediterranean Sea. What a great place for witnessing the sunrise and sunset in the city. I hope I can also get to visit Kas, a small fishing, yachting and tourist town and get some presents for my angling buddies.

I’m getting real excited now as I had booked my tickets with Costa Cruise Lines and my trip is scheduled to be in early January 2009. Hooray! Going for 11 days of cruise has always been my dream.

I'm thirsty for a drink now. Would you be kind enough to treat me?

WHAT IS COOKING THIS HOLIDAY?

With a successful turnout for the second Penang Food Bloggers (Floggers) Meet at Edelweisse Café on 27 September 2008, the organizing committee had decided to hold another gathering some time in the month of December. That would be the time where all the jingles and jangles of the Christmas bells would be heard. I was anxious about the next gathering until I found out that it might be a potluck gathering.

The first thing that came into my mind was what should I prepare for the gathering that would impress the guests? I was digging into my recipe collections trying to figure out what would be the ideal dish but I was lost. Everything was Oriental and would have to be taken with some rice. I needed something that would be light and easy to consume without the hassle of using fork and spoon or even a knife. I will need some finger food.

After stretching my brains out, I thought why not I have some holiday appetizers since we would be having Christmas just around the corner. The appetizer should be something to set the mood of the gathering to be happy, joyous and merry. Now I’m contemplating whether to have some Sweet Potato Pecan Tarts or Chipotle Shrimp Cups. Maybe I should have some salty items instead. What do you think?

I'm thirsty for a drink now. Would you be kind enough to treat me?
