HOW MUCH WOULD THAT COST?

Written by crizlai on Oct 30th, 2009 | Filed under: accessories, computer, life, rant, technology

Shopping has not been easier since the invention of the barcode scanner during the 70’s. Long queues in front of cashiers were somewhat a history now as all the products in the market today have barcodes imprinted on them to enable faster execution of checking out. But there lies a problem as a shop gets bigger with rapid expansion. Hundreds of products would be stacked up on rows and rows of shelves and there are chances that some pricing might not be labeled properly.

I had encountered such problems on many occasions while shopping in a local hypermarket. Sometimes the distance to the cashier just to enquire about the pricing of a product would require quite a long walk. Most of the time I would just put back the item as I hated the hassle of running around for the sake of just wanting to know the price. Since barcode has been so commonly used in our daily life, it pondered me why some of the hypermarkets around are still not providing this service to its consumers.

I won’t think having a barcode scanner within the reach of a consumer would be much burden to the hypermarket. Although some may have a few scattered around, but the quantity might not be enough to cater to the needs of its consumers. I had experienced running few shelves away just to check on the price for a bar of chocolate. Well, it might be a great way to sweat it out before indulging with the rich chocolate bar but that does not necessary mean what others would want. Let’s hope some of these shops would realize the importance of having more barcode scanner around before it’s too late. Happy consumers are surely behind the success of a company.

THE CONVENIENCE OF HAVING A NETBOOK AROUND

Written by crizlai on Sep 28th, 2009 | Filed under: internet, lifestyle, netbook, technology

If you walk around many of those places with WIFI access, you would noticed that the laptop those people were using are getting smaller and smaller. These “mini” laptops are called netbooks. It’s a small, light weight, low cost, highly portable, energy efficient alternative to a full sized laptop computer where you can surf the internet, email, internet messaging, play music, stream video online, facebook, twitter, word processing and so on that would not need much resources for as long as 5.5 hours. The most wonderful thing would be the large hard drives storage to store your downloaded files.

If you are a hardcore online gamer playing high end video games or even a designer who required high end resources for processing graphical images, you can forget about owning one. This would not be the type of handy equipment for you as the screen would be smaller, thus everything else inclusive the typeface, keys on the keyboards would be smaller too due to its miniature size. Moreover, there would not be any inbuilt drives for you to transfer data unless you purchase other peripherals such as portable drives or a higher storage pendrive.

Netbooks are suitable for those students, travelers or business persons who love its portability and the light weight to carry around for light tasks. These netbooks are fast gaining trend as it’s much cheaper than a normal laptop. There are many netbooks manufacturers such as ASUS, Samsung, HP, Acer, MSI and so one on the market and you can source for one easily based on your budget and requirements. I’m going to get one soon for my business convenience. Are you planning to follow suit too?

I COULD NOT EVEN FACE MY DATE

Written by crizlai on Sep 3rd, 2009 | Filed under: business, company, solutions, technology, tips

Having a long distance relationship has been hard enough when you would get to meet up with your prominent half barely few times in a year. When the time comes and yet you could not find the time to be with her just because you are in the midst of a critical situation where your business needed all your attention, you get panic! It would a dilemma whether to spend time with the one you love or to spend time in your business which would support your livelihood. It’s a headache right?

Sometimes, I felt that I should be spending more time with my family and loved one instead of spending endless hours in the office handling all the paperwork. Setting up a business might be easy but to make ensure the success of the whole company might not be easy when you try to cut cost in employing more people to handle the respective areas in the company. Most of my time would be spent in monitoring, analyzing and planning the company’s business performance. It sounded like an easy job but when you are involved in seeing figures and more figures in calculating the Returns On Investment (ROI), you might think otherwise.

With all the competitions around, I have to be more committed to ensure the smooth running of the company. Maybe I should just seek the expertise of those software development consulting firms to ease my job burden here. I’m sure they would have the relevant business intelligence tools to suit my needs. I would really need someone to define, design and deliver optimal software applications that would enable my company to achieve its business vision. With all that off my head, I could at least have more time in hand to be with my loved ones.

THE WONDERFUL MOMENTS IN LIFE

WONDERFULMOMENTS

There are many moments in our life that got erased from our memories as we grow older and older. Those lost memories would become more obvious when you realize you could not even remember what you had for lunch yesterday. What more your childhood, pre-school, high school, college, university or even your working years? Everyone would have those precious moments that sparkled laughter with full blown happiness but how many of us actually remember well enough to tell our children? Moment by moment, day by day, month by month and year by year, those memories became clear marks in our life. Do all of us have records of all those precious and colorful moments of our lives?

There are 3 must have gadgets in life that I would not forgo – computers, digital cameras and camcorders. With the advancement in technology, more and more of these gadgets had become affordable for many families. Parents had begun to realize the importance of preserving the memories of their children in whatever media they could get their hands on. Frankly speaking, I could not remember much of my carefree childhood years although I had some photographs taken when I was a child. Those were static images then but now I want my children to have more than that. I want them live in action. Many years down the road, they would look back into their growing up years and remember all the wonderful years they had gone through. These recorded images would remain as their nostalgic moment for them to treasure and to share with their own children.

You would have realized too that I had place computers as one of the main gadget in my life. With internet access, that’s also one important gadget in archiving all the memories in the free online diary or should I say blogs. We have Blogger, WordPress, Blogsome and many more that would allow you to record your daily activities. On top of that, you would have many online photo albums such as Flickr, PhotoBucket, etc, that would allow you to store your photos and videos. For those with camcorders, YouTube would be a great place to store your videos to share with everyone on your unforgettable moments. Isn’t it great to have all the state-of-the-art gadgets to make our lives more memorable?

HOW WOULD YOU BILL YOUR ONLINE PURCHASES?

HTCTOUCH

I came across this YouTube video and had a great laugh over what the son did when there are good sales online weekly. You know how? He charged to the credit card of his father. LOL! Isn’t that what most children would do when there are great bargains that one could not go without? I also would purchase the Xbox if only I could charge that to my Dad’s credit card. Haha!

I’m also a regular stalker in the online sales website and to date I had purchased many items and most of them came with free delivery. That’s a great bargain on top of the many tens and hundreds I had saved compared to purchasing from any of the local stores. If I were you, I would pop in the many sections in the website such as Apparel & Shoes, Bags & Luggage, Books, Buy for Business, Cameras, Cell Phones, Computer & Office, DVDs, Electronics, Fragrance, Games, Home & Outdoor, Jewelry & Watches, Music, Networking, Software, Sports and Toys & Baby to check out what’s the best deal around town. It’s sure a site filled with great sale all year through.

Do you know what would be my next target? I’m going to get that HTC Touch Diamond soon. It’s slim and can be fitted into my palm with no problems at all. Moreover, I can connect easily through the built in WIFI system as well as to shoot great photos. At least I can check my emails easily now anytime and anywhere.
